How Effects Work

An effect is a time-limited price modification that applies to shop items for a specific child. When an effect is active, your child sees the discounted price in the shop — the original price appears crossed out next to the new lower price. If multiple effects apply to the same item, the best (lowest) price wins automatically.

Three Types of Effects

• Set Fixed Price: Override the price of a specific item to a fixed amount (e.g., set "Movie Night" to 3 stickers instead of 10)
• Adjust All Prices by Percentage: Apply a percentage change to every item in the shop (e.g., -30% off everything)
• Adjust Single Item Price by Percentage: Apply a percentage change to one specific item (e.g., -50% off "Extra Screen Time")

Duration Options

Every effect has a duration. Choose 'End of Day' for effects that last until midnight — perfect for daily sales. Or choose a custom duration in minutes for shorter, more targeted promotions like a 2-hour flash sale after homework is done.

Activating Effects Through Cards

Effects are activated by delivering a card that contains an effect action. Create a card preset, add an effect action with the type, value, and duration you want, then deliver it to your child. The effect starts immediately. You can also attach effect actions to task rewards, so effects activate automatically when tasks are completed.

Managing Active Effects

As a manager, you can view all active effects for each child. Tap on a child's profile to see their current effects, including what type they are, when they expire, and which items they affect. If you need to end an effect early, simply cancel it — the original prices are restored instantly.
